Obituary of Anthony Emanuel Chifor
It is with our deepest sadness we announce the sudden passing of Anthony Chifor. He was 25 years young, ambitious, joyful and taken away from us much too soon. He had many dreams and the discipline and faith to achieve them. He is survived and forever loved by his mother Gabriela Bidlenova-Chifor and his sister Angela (Angelika) Chifor who he was both immeasurably close to. He is forever loved by his soulmate Arshpreet Bassi. He is greatly missed by the maternal side of his extended family that remains based in Slovakia, a country he returned to growing up over many happy summers.
He studied in the IB Programme at Assumption College Catholic High School. He was an alumnus, Outstanding Scholar, and a LEAD Gold Medallion Scholar at the University of Windsor. He earned his undergraduate degree, B.Sc. Biology and Biochemistry (Health & Biomedical Stream), graduating with Great Distinction and as part of the Dean's Honour Roll. He was studying at Wayne State University School of Medicine, in the process of completing his third year. He was dedicated and won first place prizes at national research symposiums. He aimed to specialize in the field of ophthalmology. Anthony is remembered fondly by so many who have had the pleasure of being his family, mentors, mentees, teachers, colleagues, classmates, swim team buddies, concert bandmates, roommates, neighbours, friends, anyone lucky enough to get to know him. His discipline towards himself always extended outside of studies and was apparent in how much he loved and stayed consistent with physical fitness, as well as healthy nutrition and cooking.
Anthony enjoyed the outdoors, backcountry camping, nature, and was always up for adventure. He was always caring and concerned for those around him and had the best intentions for everything he accomplished in his wonderful life. He gladly sacrificed thousands of hours of his time to volunteer for several causes and organizations in his community; Notably hundreds of hours at Windsor Regional Hospital over the years. He greatly believed in prayer and attended St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church and St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, and celebrated holidays to the fullest.
