John,
As I send my condolences to you my friend, I reflect on your dad's amazing life and his legacy. Wally was so prolific in his career, so knowledgeable and so dedicated to his craft. This is but one aspect to his legacy. As a husband, one only has to hear Stephanie, see Stephanie, and watch Stephanie to hear the sound of love, watch her glow in love and witness her dedication to a husband she stood beside for 66 years. When we were together in October, she spoke with sadness of what was coming around the bend any day now, but at the same time she spoke of resolve knowing it was his time. As a father, one only has to see the impact he had on his 3 daughters who loved their father so deeply. There is a saying... Good fathers make good sons. Well my friend, you are an incredible man, amazing son and resplendent friend. Wally did good by you and you to him. Never forget that. As a legacy, there is nothing greater than grandchildren and great-children and he was a rich man in that area. All of you will go forward from here and share funny stories of that larger than life man. You will laugh and cry. You will reminisce and quietly whisper, "hi dad" when looking out from the cottage at the water. May you and Shawn, together with Stephanie, your wonderful sisters and their families find strength in each other's arms and in each other's company in the days, weeks and months to come.
Walter, your legacy is vast and the mark you left behind can never be erased.
Sincerely,
Gina Marcon
