To my dearest Shwery family,
Becky, Patti, Deb and Michelle, and Mr. Shwery. ( I still will call him Mr. Shwery as he was like a second father to me.) As to all all the lovely grandkids and husbands and aunts and uncles, and of course the many many friends. I want to send my deepest condolences to you all.
Mrs Shwery was one of the most magical and delightful moms I knew. As a teenager, Alice as well as the whole family, welcomed me into their home as they did so many people. Her infectious enthusiasm for any project she was working on, her little bit of a funny grin when she would laugh at some of the teasing that was going on, and the woman who handed out licorice for every falling star that we saw up north at cottage time, is forever etched in my memory.
There are few people in this world who keep the joyful enthusiasm of youth alive as they mature into their senior years; Alice was one of those rarities. I could tell many wonderful stories, and I know those stories are being told now by everyone who was lucky enough to have Alice in their life.
My mom said that as long as we remember the people we love, they are not really gone. I can see Alice as clear as a bell in my mind's eye.
Sending you all love,
Leslie, David and family.
