Obituary of Giovanna Guastella

GUASTELLA- Giovanna Maria  (nee Capodicasa)
January 9, 1926 - December 29, 2021
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Nonna and
Bisnonna, Giovanna Maria Guastella.
Giovanna was born in Alcamo, Sicily. Throughout her life, she shared her love of
cooking with her family, which was her most valuable treasure. There was nothing
more important to her than ensuring her family was together and well fed! She was
involved with the Women’s League at St. Angela Merici Church in Windsor for many
years, and was a regular attendee there for weekly card games.
She is predeceased by her loving husband of 67 years, Giuseppe Guastella. She will
be forever missed by her three children: Rosemary Strong (Richard), Angelica Rauhala
(Tim), Maria Pearce (Rick), along with her nine grandchildren: Jennifer (Jamie), Lori
(Jeff), Michael (Bailey); Justin (Curtis), Ryan (Candie), Sarah (Nathan); Liam, Cristina
and Julia. Also remembering Bisnonna will be her twelve great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the amazing staff of the Blue Spruce Unit at Royal Oak Long
Term Care Centre, Kingsville for the loving care they provided mom, affectionately
referred to as “Gia:” Your kindness will always be remembered.

A private funeral mass and celebration will be held for Giovanna at this time. A
celebration of her life will be held in the near future. In lieu of flowers, memorials may
be made to St. Anthony of Padua Mission Aid (www.santantonio.org) or the Heart and
Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
