Obituary of Phillip Michael Jacob

Passed away peacefully on December 18, 2021 at the age of 90. Cherished husband to Victoria, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage. Loving father to Mickey, aka “Tripper” (Dianne) Jacob and Donna, aka “Donna Balloon” (Doug) Newton. Treasured Grandpa to Phillip (Hadley) Jacob and Ryan (Hillary) Marshall. Phil leaves behind his sister, Julia (the late Robert) Reddam, and sister in-law Lillian (the late Joseph) Hengl. Reunited with his parents Thomas and Julia and brother Thomas (Marcella).  A native of Windsor, Phil was a proud graduate of Patterson Collegiate where he was an All-City basketball star and Ontario Boys High School Champion. He is also an alum of AKO Basketball where he won the Ontario and Eastern Canadian Championships and was a supporter of the fraternity his entire life. His business career started at Fraser Lumber and then to Chrysler Canada (maker of fine cars, trucks, vans, and Jeeps as he used to remind everyone!!) where he was a loyal employee for 32 years and known to all as “The Big Smoke” for his love of cigars. As a Parts Sales Manager with Chrysler, Phil called on Chrysler dealerships nationwide and was transferred to North Bay ON, Brampton ON, Windsor ON and Vancouver BC early in his tenure, finally settling back in Windsor in 1971. After retirement in 1987, he and Victoria spent their winters in Lakeland, Florida playing golf daily, volunteering in the community and negotiating deals at flea markets. Always one to embrace people, Phil was the life of the party with a joke, a story or a speech. He never met a microphone he didn’t like!! His outgoing nature made him a great friend to many people and he went out of his way to make them all laugh. If you wanted to talk sports, Phil was your guy. He loved his family, friends, Windsor, Lakewood Golf Club and especially the Detroit Tigers.

As he always said “Hit ‘em down the middle and give your family a hug.”

Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Banwell Chapel) 11677 Tecumseh Road East 519-253-7234 on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 from 10am until the time of Phil’s Funeral Service at 11am. For those who wish to join the Jacob family for the funeral service, reservations are required. Please contact Windsor Chapel (519-253-7234) between the hours of 8am-4pm to make your reservation. Cremation will follow.
