Obituary of Nicholas 'Nick' Masney

MASNEY, Nicholas “Nick”

Passed peacefully at the age of 93 years on Sunday Nov. 21, 2021, with family at his side. Predeceased by his loving wife of 45 years, Anne (2000, nee Patrick). Loving father of son Nick Jr. (Renée), grandsons Nicholas and Ryan, and son Gregory (Adelina), granddaughters Anna Maria and Julianna. Born 1928 in Doliniany, Ukraine, the youngest son of the late Andrew and Theodosia Masney. Beloved brother of the late Paul and his wife Tillie Masney, and Steve and his wife Josephine Masney. Loving Uncle and Great Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Nick travelled to Canada with his mother and brothers in 1937 to reunite with his father in the small mining town of Sioux Lookout, Ontario. As the family built upon their new life in Canada, their opportunities took them to Toronto, Amherstburg, then for Nick to Windsor, Ontario. Nick spent the majority of his working career with General Motors Canada.  He was past member of the Windsor Sportsman’s Club, a devoted Leafs hockey fan, a swimmer with his group of “Sharks” at the St. Clair College pool, and an avid walker, easily recognized through the streets of south Windsor. The Masney family would like to extend their sincere gratitude for support during Dad’s final life journey, to the caring staff of the Seasons Retirement Home (LaSalle), S.E. Health Care, the VON, and many more.
