My Aunt Marion was a thoughtful, generous, kind soul. Because Susan and I were close in age, and I was otherwise growing up in a house full of boys, I spent the occasional weekend as a child visiting with the McDowells in Milton. I remember those fondly, and the Goddard picnics and the Christmases, of course. Although they were not as frequent, I treasured my visits with Aunt Marion as an adult. Once she gave me a delicious dinner and a comfortable bed to sleep in, instead of the bunk in a room full of snoring parents that was otherwise going to be my fate at winter cub camp north of Milton! I stayed with her a couple of times in Windsor, which gave us lots of time to tell each other stories, and talk about favourite books and TV shows. She was not afraid to share her opinions, and I enjoyed hearing them. My very last visit with Aunt Marion was in 2018, when she entertained my brother Bob and me with some stories of family trips to Detroit when she and our father were children. I feel blessed that she was part of my life for so many years, and I will miss her. My cousin Cathy, her husband Mike and their family provided Aunt Marion with love and support through good times, and some that were very sad. I am deeply sorry for their loss.
