Obituary of Gaetano Pugliese

Passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the age of 90 years. Adoring husband of Flora (nee Buda) for over 65 years and best friend for 75 years. Beloved father of Ralph (Marie), Tina & Ferio (Pam). Cherished Nonno of Christina (Chancie) Romain, Gaetano, Matthew, Nicholas, Nathan & Natalya. Cherished “Big Nonno” of Melina Romain. Predeceased by his parents Assunta (1971) & Raffaele (1981). Loving brother of the late Angelina Cesario (2018) and her late husband Carmine. Predeceased by his niece Agata Cesario (1989). Loving uncle of Giacomo Cesario & Carmine Cesario. Guy will also be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins & friends. After arriving from Italy at the age of 17, Guy founded Ralph’s Superette and successfully ran his family grocery business for 40 years in northern Ontario before retiring to Windsor. He served his customers and his community with honour and respect and was able to help many people, even through the most difficult times. A selfless person, Guy touched and inspired greatness in all those he came in contact with through his kind and generous approach. He will always be remembered for his benevolence and commitment to his family, community and his faith. Guy has been a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus for over 65 years. A Fourth Degree Knight who fulfilled many leadership roles, including Grand Knight, and was inducted as a Honourary Knight in 2018, an accolade he humbly accepted with pride. A special thank you to the nurses on the palliative care unit at Metropolitan Hospital for their care and compassion. The family would also like to thank Dr. Patrick Smith for his many years of medical care. Thank you to the Knights of Columbus and to the Brother Knights for their ongoing friendship and support. “Zio Guy” was very thankful for the friendship and camaraderie he enjoyed with family, friends and coworkers at LaStella Market.
