Growing up the Ceundwell’s house on Sunset was like a second home to me. I have no memories that pre-date David and the rest of the Crundwell’s in my life. Al and Mariann were incredible. They opened their home to me (especially the kitchen) and their hearts (even when David was trying to get me to do things that I knew, deep down, we probably shouldn’t be. Whether it was a sleepover, an after school drop in or a weekend play, there was never a time that I felt anything other than welcomed and accepted. A part of me was definitely shapped by the large amount time I got to spend with the Crundwell’s as I know many other children’s lives were too. I thank you Al and Mariann for your kindness, understanding and support. I look back on those years and can’t help but have a huge smile on my face. I wish I could have been there in person to pay my respects but unfortunately I am not in the country to do so. My thoughts are with you all. Best Tim

I was 21 years old when I started at the Tunnel in 1987. Al was the Supt. and watched over us rookies like a father. He was a wonderful man. My condolences to his family. Daniela G.

As our extended family gathers to salute the wonderful life of Uncle Al, my thoughts wander back to my early days. I have such great memories of visiting Uncle Al and Aunt Mariann in Windsor or at family gatherings in Chatham or Wallaceburg talking about hunting, fishing and of course, scouts. Al, you were the best supervisor I ever had at the Tunnel. I learned so much from you, not all of it job related. You will be fondly missed. I remember you with great affection and admiration as I find myself retiring after 30 years. Rest in peace. Catherine Maas
