I was so saddened to learn of Matt's passing. I worked with Matt in the Stratford Pro Shop for a few summers - Matt really made every day a lot of fun, and sometimes an adventure ! He was kind, big hearted and cared for everyone he touched. My deepest sympathy to his whole family, he will be missed.

Working with him at the Stratford Pro Shop, Matt was the big guy with an even bigger heart. His assuring wink and smile would always confirm that he had everything under control. My condolences to his family and friends for their loss. May they also find comfort and peace in the many memories he created for us.

Matt was a few years ahead of me at the Stratford Country Club. I remember the day Matt asked me to join him, the pro Fred Schmidt and Brad Walsh for nine holes. I was so nervous and Matt was so encouraging. A few years later, Matt was at point West and he helped me get my first head pro job at Sutton Creek a few mikes away. I will always be thankful to Matt and remember him fondly. Tony Griffi

Sincerest condolences from Matt & David's Aunt Vi, she said she wished she could be there for all of you but is not up to a long trip even if the weather was better. At 90 years she said about all she can do is to keep all of you in her thoughts & prayers, which she is doing. Take care, Love Aunt Vi.

Linda and I were very saddened to learn of Matt's illness and now his passing. He was only 15 when we moved to Linda and I were very saddened to learn of Matt's illness and now his passing. He was only 15 when we moved to Stratford so we had an opportunity to see his golf game develop. What a simple swing and a wonderful tempo. He worked with us briefly and was always cheerful, courteous and thoughtful. We would have loved to attend his Celebration of Life but the weather did not co-operate. Sincerest sympathy to his family and friends. Gord and Linda Cochrane. Oakville

I caddied for Matt in Australia in 1987. Had the pleasure of his company for a few weeks and got to watch some of the greatest get out of trouble golf shots I have ever seen. I fondly remember him calling his shots and pulling them off with those great hands. Deeply saddened to hear of his passing and my sincere condolences to his family and friends. Daren Carscadden

My sincere thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to the Cole family and to everyone that knew Matt the way I knew Matt. He could brighten your day with one little verbal "jab"...and follow it up with a wedge to an inch. The man could play and what 's more he liked to help you play better. Back in the day, he was "Salt" and I was "Pepper"...we were a tough out, so you best bring your wallet. Some of the best memories were watching him and Moe hit 50 yard pitches in Titusville. "Chin, Chin...if you're not getting better what are you doing here?". I will forever love that man...Cheers Matty, love you brother!!
