Obituary of Bernard Newman
NEWMAN, BernardDecember 12, 1941-November 8, 2018Passed away peacefully at Brouillette Manor at the age of 76. Beloved husband of 53 years to Anita (nee Guenot). Loving father of Candace Newman (Anders Knudby) and Robert Newman (Michelle). Cherished grandfather of Olivia and Tyler Newman and Alexander and Carolyn Knudby. Dear brother of Gary (Kathi), LeeAnn Halpin (Jim), Jane Hartough (Jim) and Patricia Hedderson (Brad). Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Bernard was a dedicated High School teacher for 36 1/2 years, starting at St. John Vianney High School and then moved on to Assumption Catholic High School and Holy Names Catholic High School where he held the title of Computer Dept Head. After teaching, he worked in politics as a Returning Officer, then as a Field Liaison officer for many elections. He served on the public school board as the Roman Catholic representative, and was also the Chairman for one year. Bernard loved sailing, skiing, camping, and was a certified scuba diver. He was a builder, an electrician, he could fix plumbing and do just about anything. He loved traveling with his wife Anita, she was his best friend and the love of his life. He adored his children and was so proud of them and their accomplishments. He loved them dearly. Parkinson's appeared 10 years ago and constantly robbed him of the things he loved to do. He suffered a great deal in this last year of his life. Please God, let him rest in your loving arms. We will miss your kind face Bernie and we will never forget you, Love, your family.
