Obituary of John Raymond Gibbons

GIBBONS, John "Jack"68 years passed away peacefully January 13, 2018 with his family by his side. Beloved husband of Susan (Nee Purdie). Loving father of Kathy (Brian) Paquette, Ryan (Laura Leonard) Gibbons and stepfather of Kelly Abbott (Steve Reid). Cherished grandfather of Curtis, Brett, Noah, Emily, Sophie, Patrick, Alyssa, Derek (Cassandra), Samantha and Sarah. Great grandfather of Dominic and Jaxson. Dear son of the late Bernard and Mildred (Nee Rocheleau) Gibbons. Dear brother of the late Jean and Willie Joncas, Judy McMillan (the late John Bloomer), Clayton Gibbons (Linda). The late Stewart (Moe) Gibbons 2017, Bill Gibbons (Nancy), Gloria Levis (Garry Fetherston), Mary Meyers (Mark), Fred Gibbons (Jackie), Sharon Richard (Billy Thornton), Charlene Pillon (Ken), and JoAnne Gibbons. Brother in-law of Ken Purdie (Jan), Sharon Schopf (Clarence), Pat Levack (Leo), Dennis Purdie, Kaye Potter, Colleen DiPierdomeico (Romeo) and John Purdie (Mary). Jack retired from Ford Motor Company with over 36 years of dedicated service, also a devoted life member of Unifor Local 200 Retirees. Jack was a champion for his fellow union brothers and sisters at Fords. He held the Union Plant chairman for Unifor Local 200 for 20 years, a member of the master bargaining committee. Jack was also the vice president of the Charity Association of Classic IV Bingo. Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL (South Chapel), 3048 Dougall Avenue (519-253-7234) on Tuesday January 16 from 7-9pm and Wednesday January 17 from 2-5 & 7-9 pm with parish prayers at 7:30 pm. Everyone is invited to join the family at St. John the Baptist Church (225 Brock St. Amherstburg, ON) for further visiting from 10:00 a.m until Mass of Resurrection on Thursday January 18, 2018 at 11:00 A.M Interment to follow at St. John's Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy and to honour Jack's life, memorial donations may be made to the Unemployed Help Center or Computers for Kids.
