Obituary of Helen Lescinsky
Age 92.5, completed her Circle of Life on Monday, June 26, 2017. A daughter, a sister, an employee, wife and mother, sister-in-law, aunt god mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. Busy happy life. She lovingly looked forward to reuniting with her parents, Joseph & Anna Bednarik, her brother and sister-in-law John & Margaret Evans, her husband Andrew, her daughter Donna Holden, granddaughter Tara Lescinsky, brother-in-law and sister-in-law George & Caroline Leslie and sister-in-law Eileen Leslie. Her children Pat & Ron along with grandson, Robert Lescinsky, brother and sister-in-law Joe & Bonnie Bednarik, brother-in-law Joe Leslie, her grand-dogs Kenzie and Fiona and all her wonderful nieces & nephews will miss her deeply. Helen was a generous, selfless, kind hearted and caring woman who adored her family, friends, and cherished neighbours Betty & Terry Tighe. Mom endured countless "fishing" vacations to Parry Sound and Mindemoya to keep Andy happy. Luckily, she managed to sneak in some times in Florida with some life-long friends. Pat, her two best friends Carol Cephery & Marylee Hussey, along with Carol"s mom Kay Coulson got in some "girls travel" in SW Ontario and Lexington, Michigan over about a 6-8 year period in the summers. We all hated to see these "trips" come to an end due to mom"s failing health. Helen will also be joining her "elite" friends Stella and John Sokol, Milos and Maria Ponic, Tony and Maureen Pittl, Todd and Paula Janik, Mildred and Dr. Leslie Hulka, Tony and Josie Janci, and Ernie Fox to name a few. They will be playing cards and reminiscing about the good old times. Helen was a talented seamstress and worked as a buyer and window dresser for West and Son Fabric Store on Ouellette Avenue for many years. She enjoyed worked with her dear friend, Josie, at the "Heritage" dress shop on Tecumseh Road East, which was owned by Josie"s daughter Connie Wilkinson and her friend, Louise. Josie and mom had a ball! Helen had a flare for ceramics, rug hooking and knitting. No idle hands for Helen. She even managed to get in some golf on a regular basis. She conquered two bouts of breast cancer without fear or complaints. Then dementia came to challenge her once again. Fortunately, Helen died peacefully in her sleep at Huron Lodge. Helen left wonderful memories for us all to keep. Rest in Peace Mom. You deserve no less.
