Jane, We are so sorry to hear of Tim’s passing. My dad always had great things to say about Tim, both as an individual and as a fire fighter. It was easy to see what a perfect match the two of you were. We will keep you and your families in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Greg and Colette

I can honestly say that Tim was the best leader and mentor I have ever had the pleasure to work with. He always had the most incredibly positive attitude and had an uncanny way of being able to figure out the real issue, disguised amongst all kinds of obstacles. The world has truly lost a wonderful being - we should all strive to be more like him to leave this world a little bit better than we found it. All our love from out west to Jane and the family.

I was privileged to call Tim a friend and him being a part of our wedding party 45 years ago. Sue and I have not seen Tim in many years but have such great memories of the times we spent together back then. Many good times in that Volkswagen heading out with friends. I really wish I could have connected with Tim but I will always have only great memories of those days and our friendship at that time. I am truly saddened to hear this news and my heart goes out to all his family and friends.

It is very sad to hear of Tim's passing. This world has indeed lost another exceptional person. I met Tim when I was with Corporate Security at the City of Calgary and he was Deputy Chief at the Calgary Fire Department. His professionalism and dedication to duty deeply impressed me. As well, his love of Jane and their kids impressed Susan and I so much. It was a proud moment for him when Michael joined the Windsor Fire Service and continued on the Berthiaume family legacy. Whenever we were in the Windsor area, Tim & Jane welcomed us graciously. We are proud to call Tim & Jane our friends. Ralph & Susan Miller

Tim was truly one of the best. My friend Matt and I were his first ever practicum students in Public Education and we had so many great times crammed into that little office at headquarters. He was one of my Dad's best friends and supported me and my family through some our very darkest times. He and Jane exemplify kindness and optimism. You will be so missed Tim.

Jane and family, Tim was truly one of the most positive individuals we ever met. He took everything in stride, was always smiling and positive. He was a true mentor to others, often without them even realizing it. He was a great addition to the team at Calgary Fire. You didn’t have to speak to Tim very long to know that he was one of the most genuine people you would ever have the pleasure to meet. What a great team member he was. He truly loved his family and was proud of his family. This was most evident during our early morning “coffee chats”. When we first met Tim and Jane it was impossible not to notice their connection and the warmth between such a fun loving couple. We are so sorry for your loss, but so thankful to have known Tim. Condolences to Jane and the Berthiaume family. Tim's smile was infectious. Everyone he encountered felt at ease and comfortable in Tim's presence. As a pioneer in Public Education, Tim had a huge impact on the fire safety of the citizens of Windsor and later in Calgary as Deputy Chief and Leamington as Fire Chief. It was Tim who initiated the smoke alarm give away program in Windsor before smoke alarms became mandatory. Tim Berthiaume was an exemplary leader in the fire service. On a personal note, I will never forget the hours we spent playing basketball together behind Headquarters. Rest in peace brother.

I first met Tim when we moved to Tecumseh in 1985 and knew instantly that with Tim as our neighbour, we had made the right move. As we got to know each other, we realized that our fathers and uncles had been close friends one generation previously and we were keeping the families' friendship tradition alive. Our sincere condolences go out to Jane, Natalie and Michael and the entire Berthiaume family. Tim was one fine human being and he will be missed by all who had the privilege and pleasure of knowing him.

I remember many a working fire we experienced together out of Station 4. We also did some jobs on the side together which I think I would not have wanted to do with any other guy. We shared many a good laugh. Even as you career took you to that all important stuff in the front office, you always maintained your principals of honesty and good friendship.

I remember what I believe was Tim’s last day on the floor before going off for a spell with a injury and returning in a admin capacity and on to Deputy Chief. He was on the back of Squad 2 with Easby and I and we had many runs and a fire or two. Easby and I were eating it up and he was just giving us his well known smile.
