Dear Mrs. Muir (I still can''t call you Carol), Al and Heather: some of my happiest memories are of the evenings spent at your happy home while Al and I were in high school. Playing Trivial Pursuit and just enjoying the wonderful atmosphere of your loving family. Mr. and Mrs. Muir were the kind of parents you saw on Happy Days :) John Muir - you will be missed. My deep condolences to your wonderful family.

Dear Carol and family, Please take solace in the fact that John was beloved and respected by all who knew him. He was a champion among men and will never be forgotten. He left his mark on many including all the children. The residents of Olde Sandwich Towne and those of us who cherish that community will always hold John in our hearts for his selfless time and energy which benefitted the whole. No one but you and he likely know the entire story. Love and blessings, Beth

To The Muir Family: I got to know John when I was the Staff Sergeant in-charge of the Sandwich Towne Community Patrol. John''s passion for the west end was contagious and I never saw anyone come away from a meeting without a little of his ''can do'' attitude instilled in them. Some see obstacles as insurmountable. John saw them as challenges that can be conquered. The lights in Sandwich Towne will be a little dimmer for a while because of John''s passing, but they will shine brightly for years to come because of the tireless work he did there. Rest in peace John. Gerry Pocock

My sincere condolences to John''s family, friends, associates and neighbors. John and I as well as Doug Cowan were neighbors in South Windsor and we would meet every morning for so many years and would jog anywhere from 5 to 10 miles in preparation for the annual Detroit Free Press Marathon as well as other running events. John and Doug would push me every day and kept me in fantastic shape at my pro football and wrestling weight of 235 pounds. I talked to John just recently and we relived those memories of the mornings we ran in the freezing rain and snow as well as the sweltering heat. John, thank you for the great friendship. Prepare a way for us as we are not far in leaving these earthly bounds and joining you in eternity.

I am very saddened to learn of John''s untimely passing. He served as a friend, counsellor and mentor to me for many years. John''s unbridled enthusiasm for his many projects, Brock, Coats, Sandwich, among others, was a mark of his competency and caring. John''s counsel when we were fellow teacher principals was always sage and appropriate. He will be well remembered by his colleagues and friends. Don Brown

To the family of John Allan Muir Thank you for allowing John to share his time an effort within both the City of Windsor and Olde Sandwich Towne. John loved both his family and his community. His tireless efforts were appreciated both for his depth of commitment and desire to preserve history. On a more personal note, I was honoured to receive an email from him on Monday outlining his plan and vision for the future. I believe that he knew that the end was near so he chose to give us all our "marching orders" in his own personable way! I am committed to assist whenever I can to ensure that John''s vision is realized. John Allan Muir was a very dear friend and I will miss his physical presence but his spiritual presence will be with me always. Rest in Peace John, your report card will read A++,Excellent Job!!
