Obituary of Douglas Lyman Armstrong
ARMSTRONG, Douglas Lyman December 7, 1923- May 26, 2016 With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Douglas at 92 years of age. Predeceased by the love of his life, Phyllis (2008). Cherished father of Sharon Richardson. Proud "GranD" of Amy Richardson and John Richardson. Dearest "Great GranD" of Emi Richardson. Father of Lynne Armstrong Jones (Murray) and grandfather of Michael and Megan. Douglas was a seaman on the SS Oakton, when it was hit by a torpedo in the St. Lawrence River in 1942. He then joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and became a Pilot Officer. His career took him to the Ford Motor Company, Dearborn, MI where he was an Engine Engineering Manager. A family service and burial will be held at St. Mary"s Cemetery, Navan, ON. If you choose to do so, memorial donations may be made to the Windsor Essex County Humane Society.
