If you were fortunate enough to call Marcella your friend, you were indeed blessed. She was my mother's ( Bea Gauthier) best friend for almost 60 years. They both enjoyed people & social gatherings. There was not a more frequent visitor in our home. She was kind , giving & loyal to the point of even being with my mom on the day she died. If someone had a need, Marcella was there. There were many who called her friend & experienced her warmth. She was inspirational & a role model. With her independent spirit, at a young age she travelled from Nova Scotia , took a factory job in Windsor when it was a rarity for a woman to do so. She was a woman of faith, integrity, clear Christain values & many talents. She was the ultimate host, opening her home to family & friends who got to enjoy her excellent cooking skills. I count myself to be one of the lucky ones. She has been a friend to me for over 70 years. She knew when I was quite young how much I enjoyed her delicious tea biscuits. Well into her 90's she still regularly made me batches of tea biscuits for my family, all out of an abundance of generosity & love. I never heard her say an unkind word about anyone. She refused to complain about her problems & ongoing pain. She insisted no one wanted to hear that. She accepted the challenges of aging with serenity & grace. She was always well informed about what was going on in the world , be it politics or sports. I cherish the many wonderful conversations I have had with her, both in person & over the phone. As astute & informed as she always was, she was an even better listener, always concerned about your well being & that of your family. Her faith was her guiding light. It is what sustained her in the loss of her beloved husband , Wes. We pray her soul is now at peace & they are together again. Marcella, you will be deeply missed. With love, Dave, Donna & Kate Couvillon
