Rest in peace Vern. For many years, you were a wonderful friend to my mother (Doris Merlot), you were there for her through the good times and the bad times and you always took care of her. You will be missed by those who loved you. Thank you for being in my mother's life and for bringing her joy. Words cannot begin to describe my grief at this difficult time. I wish I could be there; my prayers are with your family and I will be thinking of you. Heaven has brought home another angel.
To the Family of Vern Richards, I am so sorry to read of Vern's death, although it is many decades since I've heard of him. We were in the same class at Bishop Field College and I have nothing but good memories of him, as we went to each others birthday parties, etc. Vern certainly had a wide range of interests ! I farmed for five years and then taught in Nfld. schools and in retirement became active in the Anglican Church in several lay capacities. My sympathy to you all.
I had long ago lost contact with Vernon Richards, but I have fond memories of him as a school companion, and as a fellow student at Memorial University College. I learned of his sad death through a mutual friend. I can well understand the sorrow of his family and friendsat his loss, for even as a schoolboy, there was a seriousness and responsibility about him that would have served him well in the adult world. He is lost to us, but I hope his children and grandchildren will have inherited some of his fine qualities and he will live on in them. David Morgan
