Obituary of Bernard Buhlman

BUHLMAN-Bernard Leo, affectionately known as Bub by his family, Boomer by his fellow teachers, passed away peacefully at the age of 78 after a courageous battle with lymphoma on May 4th at Hospice of Windsor.Survived by his loving wife Joan of 41 years. He will be greatly missed by his daughters Kristen B"hlmann of Copenhagen and Karalyn Currie of Houston, and by his cherished grandchildren in Texas: Kaelan, Kia, Keegan and Karys. Jovial brother to Carol Brown, cousin Sheila Byrne and sister-in-law Margaret Buhlman. His unique sense of humour amused us all and will be remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.Through his passion for music, Bernie provided happiness, memories and smiles to listeners for 25 years as musical director for the Windsor Banjos, as well as 8 years with the Austin Banjo Club. For decades Bernard loved his teaching career at F. J. Brennan High School, where his commitment to coaching many sports lead to an OFSAA volleyball championship. His daily jog along the Ganatchio trail was a part of his routine and fervent quest for fitness. Travelling around the globe, especially in his sporty cars, was always a great thrill for him. His devout Catholic faith was an integral part of his spiritual journey, sustaining him throughout his life and especially during these last few months. The compassionate care bestowed upon our entire family by Hospice and CCAC has been immeasurable and a source of strength. If you so desire, donations to Hospice of Windsor are greatly appreciated.
