PARENT, Louis J. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear Husband, Father, and Pipi on Sept 29, 2010 at the age of 83. With a big heart, gentle soul and a compassion for helping others, Louis lived a full life with no regrets. He died unexpectedly, but peacefully with his family at his side and into the waiting arms of his parents, brothers, sisters and many dear friends who have passed before him. Our family grieves deeply for the void left by our loss, but are grateful for the time we had and the legacy he has left with us. Devoted soulmate of Elizabeth (nee Hermanutz), his wife of 57 years. Loving father to Betty Lou, Michael and Bruce and daughters-in-law Judy and Kay. Dear grandfather to Aundrea and Scott (Lauzon), Lucas, Celine, Breanna, and Holly. Great Grandfather to Zachary and Julia Lauzon. Son of late Edmund and Corrine Parent (nee Soulliere) and son-in-law of late Joseph and Elizabeth Hermanutz (nee Kessler). Dear brother of late Hercule, Ulysse (Beatrice), Virginia (Tim Lauzon), Barney (Lorainne), Rene (Brenda), Oscar ,Sr. Isabelle ( O.S.U.), Eugene, Cecile (Bill Griffin), Marcella (Lloyd Miller), Lydia, and Alcide (Lois). Survived by sister-in-law Louise. "Uncle Louie' to be deeply missed by his many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Former Reeve of Sandwich East Township, member of Essex County Council, and Alderman for Windsor City Council. Former chairman of the Metropolitan Hospital Board of Governors, former board member of Windsor-Essex Health Unit and District Health Council, and served on numerous boards and committees within Windsor and Essex County. Founder and longtime broker of Louis Parent Realty Ltd. Former employee of Ford Motor Co. and Sumner Printing. Former player with Windsor Spitfires. Member of St. Theresa Knights of Columbus. Born and raised at Stop 26 in Riverside. Visitation at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME ( BANWELL CHAPEL ) 11677 Tecumseh Rd East ( 519-253-7234) on Saturday October 2nd, 2010 from 7 to 9 PM and Sunday October 3rd, 2010 from 2 to 5 & 7 to 9 PM. Knights of Columbus Prayers Sunday at 3:30 PM. Relatives and friends are requested to meet on Monday October 4, 2010 at St. Anne's Church ( 12233 Tecumseh Rd E. ) from 9:30 AM until 10AM, followed by a Mass at 10:30 AM. Cremation to follow. A heartfelt thank you to all Louis" caregivers over the past months. Donations to the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre or the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
