Obituary of David Mallender

MALLENDER, David Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on March 7, 2012 at the age of 82. Beloved husband, soulmate and best friend of 58 years to Joan (nee Atkin). Will be loved forever by children; Scott, Craig, and Janet (Kell Sandie). Cherished grandfather to Maggie, Jordyn, Jenna, Janyne, Jonah, Rebecca, Jessica, Cailey, Michael. Loving great-grandfather to Braylynn. Predeceased by parents Clarence "TUT" and Audrey Maud (nee Robinson). Dear brother to Ted (Pat). Adored uncle to Gary (Liz), Janis (Wayne) and all of their families. David graduated with Honours History from the University of Western Ontario in 1952, followed by a year of post graduate studies. He was a proud member of the Zeta Psi fraternity and UWO swim team. David was hired by the Windsor Board of Education in1954, he was quickly promoted to Vice Principal in 1966 and Principal in 1968, (Forster, Walkerville, Massey). David and Joan moved to Colchester in 1985, where Dave retired in 1987 to pursue his passions of gardening, cooking, following the exploits of his kids and traveling the world with his soulmate Joan. Visitation at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Main Chapel) 519-253-7234 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Sunday, March 11, 2012 from 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. Friends will be received on Monday, March 12, 2012 at Church of Ascension (1385 University Ave W.) for visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Archdeacon Ron Matthewman officiating.
