My name is John Blake I just happened to google Bob’s name. We were childhood friends and played road hockey, baseball and hid and seek on Fairweather in Toronto back in the 50’s. Bob was a great guy. There was 4 of us and we were close friends myself, Bob , Richard Eric and Bob Kane. But as the years passed we all moved away. My deepest sympathy to the family. Kind regards John Blake

Beloved friends you are in my heart and mind. J.ed and I have only just returned from other goodbyes. This has seemed too hard to find the words, but they flow freely in my dreams each night so I will try to capture some of them. Bob's support and friendship was a contribution to allowing so many young artists a chance to open new doors and ways of thinking. I am convinced it was his quiet deep loyalty to new things and new ideas, in support of his treasured Gina, that made possible our residencies each year. But on top of this his friendship became a part of our lives, what we looked forward to-his wonderful face picking us up each year at the airport, the bad jokes, the discerning palate (for all things sweet especially..)the ability to carry on easy conversation while at the grill on any topic that floated to the surface- these and so many things I cannot begin to list, are all simply qualities of someone of such resource and humanity deep deep inside. I send my love and support and extended offer for anything that I might possibly do to relieve you both, Jessica and Gina, of this sadness. I know, as Auden writes, he was your 'North, South East and West, your morning song and your Sunday best.' Your love will live forever in so many hearts. He will dance on that table lithe and strong and present always, always. I am so sorry and broken hearted. You taught me about true love, true partners, true faith and artistry as a couple. love Ellen

Dear Gina and Jessica: We send you our love and thoughts at this challenging and sad time. But we remember, too, many good times shared. Jerry was sorry not to be able to attend the funeral, but wanted to let you know that you are in his thoughts and prayers. We spent some time talking about Bob yesterday, and Jerry pointed out that never heard an unkind word said around, near or from Bob. This is so rare! He created an atmosphere of kindess, and was a gentleman in every way. In the past few days, many colleagues far and wide in the United States and Canada have talked quietly to me about Bob and his positive, calming and witty presence. He will be much missed, but he is part of the fabric of this community, your work, your lives and your being, and that strong and good influence can only continue to generate more light. Please know that we are nearby, and thinking of you. With love and good thoughts, Erica and Jerry

My dear friends Gina and Jessica Bob was an amazing person, a joy to know and be able to call a friend. I rarely knew him without a smile on his lips and a twinkle in his eye, I also know what an amazing husband and father he was, how much he loved and supporter you both. He was so proud of you, your talents and your hearts and I was proud to feel that I could even after only my first trip to Windsor call him my friend. He was a man of many talents himself, some obvious and some hidden; from museums, to curling to knowing how to live and enjoy life... and sharing that joy with the people around him. I am so grateful to have been able to share even a small bit of that joy with him and with you . He will be missed by so many but we will keep him, his memory and his smile in our hearts. In these difficult times we are thinking of you both, of you three and sending our love, prayers and thoughts to you. Un Abrazo, J.Ed and Ellen

Dearest Audrey, Gina and Jessica, How do I begin to tell you how saddened I was with the news of Bob's death! There are just no words to adequately express how I feel . So soon after we had reconnected at the funeral of your Mom, it is just beyond belief that he is now gone as well. In thinking back I am so pleased that we had that brief time in November and again at the time of 'Mrs. Riley's Funeral to talk a bit, to reminisce about days long gone and to 'catch up' on our lives. They were once so closely intertwined when we were kids but took so many different turns through the years that we rarely saw each other although I always 'kept up' with what was happening in Windsor. Our decision not to attend the Funeral was not an easy one. We will certainly be there with you in spirit. We know that times will be very sad for you, Audrey, and I want to be there for you as much and as often as I can so we are saving our 'tripping time' so that we can come to Toronto again very soon to spend time with you. I pray that the gift of memory may be yours, each of you, and that those many and wonderful memories will bring some comfort and peace in the days and months ahead. He was a wonderful man, gifted and generous and caring. We will miss him very much! And although we cannot begin to understand why, it was his time to go. God be with you all and Godspeed Bob! "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." (2 Timothy 4:7)

Hi Gina, Bob was such a great guy. My memory of Bob will always be his perpetual warm smile. Every time he walked into a room, greeted you or spoke to you, he had that beautiful, genuine, kind smile. Roberta and I were going through the pictures you took at our 25th, and there's a great picture of Bob and I ... with that great smile! We're so sorry to hear that Bob passed away so quickly. Our hearts and prayers are with you and Jessica. Love always, Phil, Roberta, Christie, Andrea, Erika, Mike and Mark ... the Aussies down under.
