Irene was our neighbour on Ellis Street for over 15 years. When we first moved in to our home, we saw the sign "Guard Dog on Duty" and wondered what kind of dog lived next door only to be relieved by Taffy who was a cute little Shitzu. Irene always had the best garden in the neighbourhood and enjoyed sitting on her porch with her family and friends. She taught me all I know about gardening as I enjoyed watching her prepare her "baskets" every summer. She also made the best zucchini sticks. During Christmas, we were always invited over for a drink which consisted of amaretto in our coffees. When our son Aleks was born, she gave us a musical figurine with a sleeping baby in a bassinet which we cherish to this day. Irene was a good friend and neighbour and we are very sad to hear of her passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her children Noria, Velma, Anita, Ronnie and their families.
