i burst into tears when i was sent this information. I had only talked to him days before and was trying to get him to come and visit me in winnipeg to heal and take a break from it all. I never saw this coming. We have been friends since I met him when my sister was about 13, lost touch and had just started talking again. He was a great kid and I will miss him dearly. I am so sorry for your loss and if I could come back for the funeral I would. You will all be in my hearts and my thoughts. I'm so sorry.

Dean and Pat and family, Mom just told me about Nicholas. I am so sad to hear of his passing (having trouble writing this without crying). I know it's been a while since I've seen you guys, but I can only imagine how much sadness and hurt you are all feeling. I'm having a hard time knowing what to write because I know that no matter what I say - nothing can heal the pain you are feeling right now. Just know that we (the MacDonalds) are thinking and praying for your comfort. Know that God is watching over you all and Nicholas will be comforted in His arms. All my prayers, Kim MacDonald

To all in Nick's family, You are in my thoughts and prayers even though I have never personally met any of you. This is very sad and hard to cope with ... may God grant you daily strength. We never seem to truly understand why someone is taken at such a tender age. Pat, my dear friend, I just now learned of your loss. I cannot begin to imagine what you and your family are going through. I wish I could wrap my arms around you, but since I can't, I have asked God to wrap His arms around you and yours.

Dear Katsilas Family, Pat your friend Helen Luksan asked for people pray for you and your family as you are grieving the loss of your son and brother. I had responded to Helen and told her that I am praying for you and the family and passed along this link. Lord I pray right now for these grieving parents Pat and Dean and Nick's brother's Zak and Mike that You would carry then through this time when they are so deeply wounded by this loss of their son and brother. I pray also for the friends who have lost this man from their lives. May there be many good memories for this family to cherish as they gather together to share, to cry and to comfort one another. Lord provide all that they need in every way for this time. In Jesus name, amen. I share this as I am grieving the loss of my beloved husband Ken who went home to the Lord on Jan. 3rd after a battle with a rare aggressive cancer.

Dear Father Dean, Patsy, Zak and Mike, I cannot tell you how saddened I am by the loss of your son, and brother. In the coming months I am sure you will go through many emotions, but I hope you can try to see that it only takes a break from reality for these events to occur. In so many ways I see Nicholas as victim, and some one who in all this tragedy was unable to hurt anyone, except himself. Please remember that so many others share in your suffering. May God be with you all, and May his Memory be Eternal. Richard

Dear Pat, My mom, Helen Luksan shared this very sad news with me. I don't know you, but my heart aches for you and I have been praying for you and your family. I also have three sons (13, 9, and 5) and I could not imagine losing one of them. When I look at Nick's picture I can see my boys in ten years. I can see in his eyes what a special person he was. I'm so very sorry for your loss. While the pain of losing him will never completely go away, I pray that in time peace will fill your heart and that the spirit of the Lord will continue to comfort you.

Dear Dean, Pat, Zak and Mike, I will always remember Nick as a faithful member of the Altar Staff at St. Raphael. He served with dedication and skill. He kept a poker-face most of the time but when he did smile it was infectious. He will be sorely missed. I pray that our Lord and God and Savior Jesus Christ would sooth the pain and sorrow we all feel now and replace it with good memories of Nick. May His Memory be Eternal! Sorrowfully submitted, Subdeacon Robert Aaron Mitchell

Dean, Pat, Zak and Mike, I am devastated by the loss of such a wonderful and kind soul. I will pray for God's mercy on you all to find peace in this difficult time. Nicholas' memory will be eternal as he has touched the lives of so many in such a short time. I remember Nicholas' beautiful smile and curly hair when he was a baby, and I particularly remember how heavy he was when I baptized him - he was 17 pounds if I remember correctly! Over the years, I remember seeing him and being amazed at how tall and grown up he got, and how different he looked. Zak, you and Mike got big and grown up too, but you look much the same, Nick looked different as he got older, much more pensive and thoughtful - sometimes I hardly recognized him. I know that he was a wonderful cousin and godson to me, a fun and loving son and brother to you all; I'm sure he was fantastic with Bruce and Emma, and an honorable, caring husband. I will miss Nicholas very much, and it is with heavy heart and disbelief that I write these words. May he rest always in peace, may his memory be eternal, and may God grant peace and mercy to all of us who are living to get through this difficult time. Maria.
