Dear Anne, Melissa, and all the family:
Please accept our most sincere condolences and sympathies on your great loss. Melissa, Jovan and Mike, we can’t image how devastating it must be to have suffered two great bereavements in so short a time. +Teta Stana was a huge part of our lives, especially for my brother and me growing up. She and Uncle Mike would often babysit us at their house on Hall Avenue when both of our parents were working. Most of all, I remember her great friendship with our late mother +Rose. Two very different individuals, they complemented each other well. I remember their long, heartfelt phone conversations, and my mother always spoke of +Teta Stana’s great love and support for her family and kumovi. +Teta Stana had a recurring (at least, that is how I remember it) role (under a pseudonym!) in our mother’s newspaper column, wherein her perfection as a homemaker was contrasted with our mother’s in a humorously self-deprecating way – and no wonder, as +Teta Stana’s cooking and baking were second to none, and her house was always immaculate. We were just discussing her wonderful homemade noodles to the other day! Whenever she saw you, she would greet you with a loving warmth that made you feel valued. May her memory be eternal!
Love,
Georgina (Kosanovic) Giles
