Obituary of Elizabeth Jolie

JOLIE, Elizabeth (Lise) Jeanne Jolie, snjm

The Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, U.S.-Ontario Province, announce the birth into eternal life of Sister Lise Jolie, snjm on November 4, 2024 at SNJM McEwan Residence in Windsor, Ontario. Lise was 67 years of age and 41 years of Religious Profession. She was supported during her final months and days by A Village of SNJM Sisters, Associates, Harrington and Jolie families, friends, Hospice Team of Windsor and most especially by her housemate, Connie Harrington, snjm.

Predeceased by her parents: Ernest (2017) and Anne Louise (Adams) 2022. She is survived by her siblings: Thomas, Suzanne Williams, Philip and Carol; Simone and Joe Kilpatrick; Jennifer and Paul Kubinec and Caroline as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In her early years in ministry, Lise taught in several Windsor/Essex High Schools (St. Anne’s, Brennan and Assumption) where she served as teacher and campus minister. As a novice, Lise served in pastoral ministry in Detroit, MI , then in Windsor and the remote communities of (Pelly Bay( Kugaaruk in the Nunavut Territory and Tache, Manitoba.

Lise shared her gifts with SNJM Ontario Province as bookkeeper and later managing the day-to-day business and needs for the Canadian part of SNJM U.S.-Ontario Province. Lise shared her gifts as guitarist and vocalist wherever and whenever possible.

During the pandemic lockdown, she posted a series of songs on FACEBOOK which cheered many people’s hearts.

For many years, Lise volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. She proudly worked on maintenance and remodeling projects for SNJM properties in Windsor areas. Her tools were among her prize possessions.

Lise cared for both of her parents in their final years and has been caring for her younger sister who lives with several disabilities.

If one needed “anything”, Lise was happy to assist all. She was a strong advocate for our SNJM Refugee Ministry sponsored by Windsor Mission Centre.

We remember Lise for her humour, her compassion, her desire to understand and her “out of the box” thinking. She was a woman of justice and deep compassion.

“Pay attention; listen and your soul will live” is a quote that spurred her on in life.
