My sincerest condolences to the entire Bennet family on Dargie's passing. After working so many years and becoming such good friends with Dargie, I am doubly saddened that the passage of time since our leaving Suncor weakened those regular communications that kept that common bond strong. Time spent working with Dargie was the very best and most memorable of my career. His was the level head that always kept us focused and moving forward to seed some great innovations in the industry. Dargie always placed family first for himself and everyone that had the honor and pleasure of working with him. I know that he will be missed by many.

We were saddened to hear of Dargie's passing yesterday. Our most heartfelt condolences and sympathies to Diane and their family. I worked closely with Dargie when he came to the Suncor Sarnia Refinery. I was leading the process control initiative, and he was managing Refinery Information Systems (later 'IT'). We established a beneficial collaboration with the Refinery Information Management Systems (RIMS) project to upgrade our computer systems partially in preparation for Y2K, after which I was assigned the IT role when he left for Denver. Again, we collaborated to transition the Denver Refinery systems to Suncor standards. We often travelled together to conferences. We jointly presented a paper to the NPRA on the RIMS project, which was very well received. At the big Suncor IT conferences where we had to double up, Dargie and I often roomed together. Because of his bad back, we would make a bed for him on the floor. I also remember bringing him his files and laptop to his house so he could work from home when his back was too bad to move out of the house. I never heard him complain about that - he just let me know when he needed some extra help. A cheerful man of integrity and a most valued colleague! Just last week we were thinking about him and Diane - wondering how their home in Florida fared in the two recent hurricanes, thinking that we needed to catch up........ So Long, my Good Friend...., and RIP. It won't be very many more years before we meet again on The Other Side. Sincere Condolences & may God Bless............, Cliff & Sue

We are so sorry for the loss of a wonderful father and man. As a close friend of Deb’s since childhood I had the pleasure of experiencing the kindness of Dargie growing up and seeing the love he always showed his family. May he rest in peace and may you all find peace moving forward knowing how much you were loved.

The Howe family from Manitoba and Alberta are thinking of Darg and his family at this difficult time. My sister and I (Loraine and Bev) have memories of the great time Auntie Myra and uncle Dave and Darg babysat us. We always looked forward to them setting up the Mouse Trap board game at Gramma Howes. Even with broken and missing pieces Uncle Dave and Darg could make the thing work!!! In 1967 our family was fortunate to have a tour of the Montreal Expo site by Darg. Coming from Neepawa this was an experience with traffic and the sites of Montreal. We had 8 people in the old car and no AC but Darg was up to challenge of taking the country folk on this tour. Rest in peace.. Lila Howe and family.
