It was always a pleasure to meet Dave upon our arrival in Windsor to visit my mum Nellie Siddall who lived across the street from Dave. Special thanks to Dave for the loving care and attention he provided to my mum and all the fun times he enjoyed with my late dad Robert Siddall. Together they will continue to laugh and have fun in their new home with God at their sides.

I was saddened to receive the news about Dave 's passing. I first met Dave in the 1980s when I joined the MIchigan Cricket Club. He warmly welcomed me to the club and became a great teammate and a good friend. Dave was a big West Indies cricket fan and joined us on several trips to Barbados to watch the test match at Kensington oval. He was a joy to be around. Always cheerful with a big friendly smile. I will miss his jerk chicken; which he often prepared for his friends.
My sincerest condolences to Dave's family. May he rest in eternal peace.

My deepest condolences to Holly and family.
There are not enough words to express how great of a man Dave Oakley was and how great of a friend and mentor he was as well. We bonded together throughout the years working long hours and many summers. We laughed as hard as we worked sometimes. Form pouring concrete in Hamilton to finishing a pool deck at 3:00am in Lasalle and chalking lines in the dark. Dave was always the last one to leave with me. Sticking it out to the end. Every where we went Dave made a new friend always greeting people with a smile and a handshake and if you were lucky a piece of his famous jerk chicken. I can’t even tell you how much jerk chicken we ate throughout the years on the job site and sitting in his back yard laughing over a beer. I don’t think he ever brought lunch with him to work without thinking of me. Always generous. Dave may have been called away from us early but he lived his life to the fullest. Most men half of his age could not keep up. A wealth of knowledge in concrete and in life. Dave just knew how to live and what a life he lived! Always eager to help a friend and always with a smile on his face. A great loss that I will feel until I meet him again. A great loss I’m sure so many of us will feel. His presence will be missed so much here but I’m sure heaven just lit up a little brighter. Dave your one of a kind! My brother from another mother! The man that handcuffed lightening and told the thunder to behave! I will truly miss you my friend!

Dave, you brought so much joy and laughter to our little block of Sierra Drive! Dad loved to escape to your man cave across the street and share stories and a sip and for so many years you kept a watchful eye on Mom, always stopping by to check on her and give her a good laugh. We’ve missed seeing you recently but will cherish fond memories of our times visiting home!
Love and condolences to your family and friends,
Doug Siddall and Jorge Bahena

In this world, There're Givers and Takers.
David was definitely a giver with his mother's sense of humor.
I can envision Aunt Stella welcoming him into the neighborhood where he'll see lots of familiar faces
Rest well my friend in the loving company of all your family members who have traveled on before you.

With a heavy heart I write this. Rest in Peace, David Oakley.
The Concrete King! A mentor, a teacher, a best friend, a right hand man, a drill Sargent, but always in a happy, funny, joking mood.
You always treated me as if I was your son. I have to give all of the credit to you for absolutely everything I know in the cement world. I met you at 19 years of age, and you believed in me. From teaching me the trade, your tricks, being hard on me, being patient with me, and always working with me on every single pour. You were beyond a friend. These last ten years were nothing short of amazing, and an absolute blessing. Thank you for all of this.
We will all miss you, and remember you. I’ll miss your advise, I’ll miss your expertise, I’ll miss your perfection, I’ll miss your jokes, I’ll miss your laugh, I’ll miss you on pours, I’ll miss you yelling at me on site, I’ll miss your helping hand, I’ll miss your 7am Sunday morning phone calls, I’ll miss the jerk chicken, I’ll miss having a crown royal with you, I’ll miss our friendship, and much more. Rest in Peace David Oakley, until we meet again. My deepest condolences to all family, and friends.

Gone but not forgotten! When I needed help the most you didn't hesitate to render a helping hand. I'll never forget your kindness. Thanks for sharing your beautiful daughter, Deon with me. When you introduce her to me, you said "take care of her". We're friends for life & I'll always be there whenever she needs me. RIP my friend! I'll be missing you. Sybil/Zacka
