Obituary of Locketa Pastora Gray

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Locketa Pastora Gray at the age of 92. Devoted and loving wife of the late Leon Gray (2015). Dear mother to Leroy (Lori Eldon). Predeceased by her parents Allan Shaw and Rupersia Cousins. Locketa will be deeply missed by her nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended family.

Born on December 15th 1931 in Portland, Jamaica, Locketa spent most of her adult life in Windsor, Canada. She worked as a nurse and manager of psychiatry at Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare for 27 years. One of her greatest honors in her field was being awarded the Commemorative Medal for the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada in 1992. She devoted her life to helping others. Locketa also enjoyed tending to her garden, where she grew a variety of different flowers.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the entire Lifetimes on Riverside Retirement Residence team and the Bayshore Home Care Solutions team for their excellent and compassionate care of Locketa.

Visitation will take place at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. (519-253-7234) on Wednesday May 8th from 2pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday May 9th, from 10:30am to time of funeral service at 11:00am in the chapel. Burial to follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens.

If so desired, donations in memory of Locketa may be made to the Windsor Seventh-Day Adventist Church, the Hiatus House of Windsor, The Hospice of Windsor-Essex, and the Alzheimer’s Society of Windsor and Essex County.
