Obituary of Heather Hooper (Née Coleman)
It is with deep sadness that Heather's family announces her passing after a very brief illness on Thursday April 25th, 2024. Predeceased by her cherished son Steve, she leaves behind her beloved husband Barry, her children Jeff (Christine), Jaye (Paul), and her daughter-in-law Kelly. She was a wonderful grandmother to Sydney, Coleman, Ella, Samantha, Victoria, Lauren, Ian, Megan and Abby. She was also a loving sister to Brooke (Gaudet) and aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Heather was born in St. Catharines and raised by Norm and Betty Coleman. She moved to Windsor after the sudden death of her own mother to help her father raise her younger sister, Brooke. Shortly after beginning her career as a high school teacher, she met the man with whom she would spend the next 60 years.
While Heather loved being a teacher, her real passions blossomed upon her retirement. She loved to travel, became an avid curler and golfer, but needed something more. After taking a few art classes out of interest, she realized this was how she wanted to spend her retirement years. She became a proud member of the Windsor Association of Representational Artists with her art displayed, not only in her family's homes, but in various art shows around the area.
A service to celebrate Heather's life will be held at the Windsor Chapel Funeral Home (Banwell Chapel) at 11677 Tecumseh Rd. East. Visitation will be on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Funeral Service on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. with a reception of light refreshments to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences and cherished memories may be shared with the family at www.windsorchapel.com.
