After hearing about Denice's passing, I was regrettably unable to attend the showing and didn't message Finley and family because I didn't want to be a burden among all the other condolences. But, after a week of hearing about all of the things I had never known and reflecting on how she has impacted so many around her, I felt more ready to post a statement. I am sorry for those who will feel the loss of this fiercely loving woman the most, because it is such a large presence gone.
I didn't know Denice as "Denice", she was simply "Team Mom" for the Ste Anne High School robotics team. She is, still, a cherished mentor who donated her time to improve the lives of so many people, including me. When I imagine Denice, she is sitting in stands with Lachlan and Jeff as Finley is rallying the team. She's passing me a bottle of water because she's always been thoughtful and prepared. She's feistily talking about how our team is ranking in the competition, and how well we played the last match.

Jeff, Finley, and Lachlan,
I am so sorry for your loss. Denice was a true gem and the baddest of asses (I love it so much that she was described that way in the obituary, by the way) and I consider myself lucky to have had the opportunity to work for her, learn from her, and laugh with her every day for a while.
I had met her for the first time shortly after she joined the university and was always delighted when our paths crossed, but it was when she hired me into HR that we really got to know each other. I will miss that smile and mischievous giggle and all the (often fast-paced and full of interrupting each other) conversations where I knew I would walk away grateful for the way she challenged me, offered a new perspective, or taught me something new.
We often talked about how we spent our time outside of the office as well and bonded over our shared love of going with our families to check out a DCFC match and singing loud and proud from the "hymnal". She talked about you all the time while bursting with pride and it was so clear that she loved and cherished the three of you and all the fun you had together more than anything else. She made a huge impression on so many and will always be remembered as a force and an inspiration. She knew how to balance her bad-assery with love, humour, and integrity and I am forever grateful for her leadership, friendship, and everything else that I learned from her and her example.
Sincerely,
Kerri Zold

My deepest sympathy to Jeff and family. Denice was a wonderful student who was so very personable, intelligent and multi-talented, especially in Art. Most of all, I remember the positive way she looked at the world with her incredible sense of humour. Although it has been many years, I can still hear her laugh and I will treasure that memory.

Jeff, Finley, and Lachlan,
My sincere condolences for your loss. Denice was such a light in our office and a great mentor to me. She truly cared for each and every one of us, showing compassion and sharing with us her authentic self. She was a bridge builder where relationships were rocky and a breath of fresh air through difficult times. Following stressful meetings, you could count on a funny GIF coming your way to cheer you up. She was a one of a kind soul, a true badass as perfectly noted in the obit, and will be missed dearly. I feel honoured to have had the time to get to know her. It is clear from all the memories shared on this board that she touched so many lives in such positive ways.

I'm deeply saddened to hear of Denise's passing. She was a beautiful, warm soul. I met her in grade 5 and could never forget the way her eyes lit up when she smiled. God bless her family and friends and may He surround with his love and peace during this difficult time. He's with us on the Mountain top and He's with us in the valley.

Dear Jeff, Finley and Lachlan, I am so sorry for your tragic loss. People are feeling Denice's loss deeply on campus. I had some of the funniest and most hilarious laughs with her. She had such a quick wit (I can hear her now saying "unicorn"). I watched her move mountains if she thought something needed to be done, especially for a friend. On days we worked late we would walk out of the building together, to her cool Mini. She would speak of getting home to you three. Whenever she spoke about you, her husband and children, her face glowed and her eyes shone. You were the joy of her world. I hope the deep love you all shared continues to sustain you, Sincerely, Sukanya

Dear Jeff, Finley, and Lachlan: I'm so sorry for your loss. Denice had a wonderful sense of humour. I also remember being shocked that she was a real artist when I saw one of her big paintings in her office...what a talent! It was obvious that Denice deeply loved and was so proud of her family. It showed how much she truly enjoyed the kids, and loved to share stories about their growing, their interests and accomplishments. She will be missed.

I was saddened to learn of Denice’s passing. Way too young. I had the pleasure of working with Denice at McTague Law Firm - first when she articled and then as an associate. I followed her career at WRH and then at the University of Windsor. She was certainly a bright, competent and accomplished lawyer who made a difference in all of her endeavours. Hoping the wonderful memories of her carry you through this most difficult time. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Jeff, Finley, Lachlan and the rest of Denice's family,
I am truly heartbroken to hear of the passing of your wife and mother. I spent lots of time working with Denice on Accessibility projects at the University several years ago. Although our projects were challenging at times, Denice always managed to keep things light-hearted and we would often get side-tracked and would talk about our love for cooking, wine and shoes. Her smile, laughter and unique sense of humour were infectious and always helped to keep things moving smoothly. As I would walk down the corridor to her office, she could hear my keys jingling and then she would laugh and say "Santa is Coming". That laughter would be a great start to my day! When she moved to Human Resources, I was saddened that I was no longer going to be working closely with her, but would run into her in the elevator or outside of our building and we would often chat to catch up on things. Denice was an absolute joy to work with and I will miss her dearly!
I will keep you all in my thoughts and pray that the fond memories of her stay close to your hearts and help you get through this most difficult time. May Denice rest in peace.
With love and prayers,
Emmeline Ventimiglia
