Obituary of Arthur William Zéphyr O'Keefe

Passed away peacefully, on January 22, 2024 at the age of 97. Predeceased by his wife Gilberte Jean (nee Côté) in 2020. Father to Daniel O'Keefe and Catherine (Toronto). Proud grandfather to Jayson and Mallory (Ottawa) and great-grandfather to Penelope and Levi. Predeceased by brothers Francis, Joseph, John, Clarence and Gerald, and sisters Margaret, Gloria, Lucille and Geraldine. Survived by sisters Mary (Dozzi) and Joanne (Samu). Over the years, Dad enjoyed many fishing and camping trips with us and in the early days took pleasure as a Scout Master for the 17th (Most Precious Blood) and later the 52nd (Our Lady of Mt. Carmel) troops. During his retirement he along with mom enjoyed travelling through out all of Canada and the U.S., as well as trips to Hawaii, Ireland, England and France, sharing many stories of their explorations. When travel became too physically demanding he pursued his other favourite hobbies of gardening and woodworking, making many toys and models for his grand children; frames and easels to display Jean's rug hooking and quilts at exhibitions. As a result of very early retirement as an autoworker, we often joked after he turned 90 that his former employer may have now paid him more in benefits than he made while he worked. We will all miss you. No words can express our gratitude towards the staff at Seasons Belle River and Extendicare Tecumseh for the care and compassion shown toward our dad during his stays. As per Arthur's request, cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to Windsor Chapel. If so desired donations in memory of Art may be made to the Canadian Heart & Stroke Association.
