She was one of my favourite teachers. I had her two years in a row (in Grades 5&6). She had such high expectations and pushed me to be a high achieving student. I like to think I bring some of her passion to my own students now that I am a teacher. Your legacy lives on, Ms. Mykitczyn-Baker!

Julie and I are devastated to learn of Lydia's passing. She was an excellent teacher.who was particularly instrumental in assisting her special education students to achieve success in school. Lydia was a kind and thoughtful person who was a wonderful friend to all who knew her. She was a straight shooter who always honestly told you what was on her mind -- no sugar-coating. Popular among her peers, Lydia was a team player and a functional professional. I fondly remember the part I played in getting Steve and Lydia together . . . and also walking her down the aisle when the two got married. Our condolences to the Baker and Mykitczyn families as well as to best and loyal friend, Sabina.. . . and from all of us who loved her dearly. Rest in peace, dear friend, Sam and Julie Dragich

We are so sorry to hear about the loss of Lydia. She was an extraordinary teacher to my brother Kahless and I. The neighbourhood will miss her beautiful smile and conversations she would have with our family as she was walking to and from Hugh Beaton. So very sorry, to hear of her passing. She taught both of our children and left a meaningful mark, on the two of them. She was one of their favorite teachers. Lydia was a wonderful teacher and I enjoyed working with her. She cared deeply for her students and colleagues. I hope heaven is as beautiful as Jamaica, I know she loved to talk about her wonderful trips. My condolences to Steve and her wonderful family.
