The short-lived nature of life bars us from building a more permanent world. Only just, since we are impermanent creatures of this earth. With heavy hearts and still, a wounded spire of disbelief, we announce the unexpected passing of Michael Anthony Maio on Saturday, July 01, 2023 at the age of 62: beloved son, cherished brother and devoted uncle. Sorely to be missed by his mother Maria Francesca Maio (née Pugliese), brother Joe Maio (Mala), and sisters, Adela MaioEmery (Ken 2016) and MaryJean Maio (Stéphane Guérette); nieces Maria, Natalie and Angela Maio, nephew Stephen Maio, Matteo Maio Guérette, great nephew, Colton Maio-Bondy and many cousins across Canada, the U.S. and Italy. Predeceased by, and now resting comfortably with his father Gino Maio.

A graduate of St Clair College and avid musician, Michael took immense pride in the Assumption High School band, and was to disseminate this love for music for the rest of his life. A long-standing employee of Canada Post, Michael also owned a lucrative salon and was a gifted hair stylist. Michael was a multi-varied/multi talented man of action who would always put others needs before his own. 

In honor of his selflessness and commitment to others' well being, Michael gave in death as he gave in life through organ donation. Cremation to follow shortly thereafter. Visitations for Michael will be held at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home (Dougall Ave. site) on Sunday, July 09, from 2-5pm and 7-9pm. Funeral services for Michael will be held on Monday, July 10, at St. Joseph’s Church in River Canard. There will be a short viewing starting at 10am with the mass to follow at 11am.

The family ask that contributions be made to the Humane Society in honor of Michael’s love for his feline friends.
