Valerie and I first met George at a fishing lodge in Canada some 16 or 17 years ago. He and Doug, Ron and John were there together and eating at the table behind us. Dinner that night was duck a l'orange as the chef was quite the food "maestro". As we were eating Ron leaned over and asked me "what is the meat we are eating". I answered it was duck. Ron said could I repeat that as he couldn't hear me. I repeated DUCK in a louder voice whereupon their whole table, including George, dropped to the ground laughing like crazy. Clearly, as it turned out the Osborne's inherited their father's sense of humor. George was the most friendly and gentlemanly individual I think we ever met. He went out of his way to chat with you and his smile was sincere and engaging. He was always genuinely interested in whatever you had to say and over the years we enjoyed his company or chatting over the phone every now and then. His influence upon his children is evident in their kindness and their interest in others as was so clearly demonstrated by George's personal traits. His passing leaves a large hole and he will be remembered with affection.
