Obituary of Roland Anderson

ANDERSON, Roland " Rolly " October 11, 1926 - June 4, 2008 It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Roland Anderson, on June 4, 2008 at 81 years of age. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 57 years Florence (nee Girard). Devoted father of Brenda and husband Jerry Tramontozzi, Frances and husband Mike Mayer, Cindy Gelinas and Katherine and Dan Corrent. Most adored grandfather of David and wife Stephanie Tramontozzi, Ian and wife Ann Mayer, Lisa Tramontozzi, Scott Mayer and fianc"e Brooke VanBeek and Jeffrey Gelinas. Cherished great grandfather of Isaac and Noah Mayer and Nathaniel Tramontozzi. Predeceased by his parents Moise and Corinne Anderson. Loving brother of Gloria Merrifield of Amherstburg and Theresa Rabbitt of Connecticut. Predeceased by his sisters Grace, Annette and Florence and his brother Norman. Dearest brother-in-law to Arthur Girard (1977) and his wife Jean (2003), Raymond Girard (2006) and his wife Carol, Ernie Girard of B.C., Leo Girard, Agnes Gambeta of Chatham, Jeannette and Ben Doten of Florida, Dorothy and Don Lessard, Marvin and Pam Girard, Philip Girard, Rosie Chaly, Jerome Girard of B.C., Patsy McLay. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Rolly worked at the Windsor Star and retired in 1991 after 50 years of dedicated service and was the Financial Secretary of the Windsor Typographical Union #553 for over 30 years. He was a long standing 3rd Degree Member of the Riverside Knights of Columbus Council #4924, where he served as Treasurer; he was a very active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church serving as an Usher for 43 years and volunteered his time with many charitable committees. Visiting at the Windsor Chapel Funeral Home, 1700 Tecumseh Rd . East on Friday, June 6, 2008 from 2-5 and 7-9 P.M. Parish prayers on Friday at 3:00 P.M. Bishop T. Kidd Council K of C prayers Friday at 7:30 P.M. Visitation will continue at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, ( 7830 Edgar St.) on Saturday, June 7, 2008 from 9:00 A.M. until time of Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 A.M. Fr. Antonio DelCiancio will be the celebrant . Cremation with a private family service will take place at Heavenly Rest Cemetery at a later date. Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Association or the Charity of Your Choice would be appreciated by the family.
