Obituary of Catherine Juanita Gomes

GOMES, Catherine "Kay" Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on July 29, 2008 at the age of 90. Predeceased by her husband Vincent Franco (1944) and much later by her second husband Henry Gomes. Loving mother of Joan Sutherland and husband Robert, Renee Little and husband James, Vincent Franco and wife Jo-Anne. Cherished grandmother of Debra Sutherland, Patrick Sutherland, David Little and partner Alva, Michael Sutherland and partner Tracy, Robert Little and wife Suzanne, Ryan Franco and wife Natasha, Dana Little and Candice Franco. Dearest great-grandmother of 12 great-grandchildren including the oldest Steve St. John. Catherine was a deeply religious person who was very devoted to her family. Kay worked as a bookkeeper for over 25 years at Meretsky Furniture until the store closed. She was a member of St. Theresa's Church and St. Vincent de Paul Parish before moving to Villa Maria and Extendicare Tecumseh Nursing Homes. She loved to travel, sing and dance, work in her garden and host family dinners. Visitation at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. East on Friday, August 1, 2008 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers Friday at 3 p.m. Relatives and friends will be received for visitation on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at St. Vincent de Paul Church (2015 Balfour) from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Stroke Recovery Association would be greatly appreciated.
