Obituary of Alexander "Alex" Hajnal

Transitioned May 19, 2023 at the age of 96.  Alex was born on May 15, 1927 in Demecser, Hungary.  He emigrated in 1931 from Hungary to Windsor with his parents and brother.  Alex is survived by his loving wife Betty (nee Levi), they enjoyed 71 years together. Loving Dad of Jeffrey, Cindy Mallat (Jeff McFadden), Erich Mallat (Chris Delaney).  Dearly loved Grandpa to Anthony (Ani), Alexandra Dale (Andrew), Alyse Priamo (David) and Samantha Hajnal (Patrick Wojdylo).  Loving Great Grandpa to Audrey, Hendrick and Piper Dale and Elliot Priamo.  Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Esther, brothers Emery and Joseph.  Alex is lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. 

Alex began his career at Windsor Tool and Die as a Tool and Die Leader.  He continued his career with Paragon Tool building molds, designing and estimating.  In retirement Alex held a position with Canadian Association of Moldmakers.  He was an active member of the Windsor Roseland Golden K’s.  Alex had a passion for cooking amazing meals for family and friends.  He was an avid reader and gardener.  Puzzles lately were a comforting pastime. 

The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to his longtime friend and neighbour Dr Hakam Abu-Zahra for his support through the years. Special thanks to Chris Quick for all his support and kindness.  Grateful thanks for the support and care from Bayshore and Care Partners.  Also for the 5th floor staff at Windsor Regional Hospital Met Campus, special thanks to Sara. 

Cremation has taken place.  Memorial visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel (South Chapel) 3048 Dougall Avenue (519-253-7236) on Thursday, June 15, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. to the time of the Celebration of Life Service at 1:00 p.m. Memorial tributes to the Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation or The Hospice of Windsor & Essex County would be appreciated by the family.  www.windsorchapel.com
