Obituary of Peter John Hradowy
HRADOWY, Peter John
Peter passed away surrounded by the love of his family on May 6th, 2023, at the age of 74. He was a beloved husband to Dana (Nee Pickard), with whom he shared 51 years of marriage. Peter is predeceased by his father, Harry Hradowy, and his mother, Mary (Pona) Hradowy. He was much loved by his children Martha, Marcie, and Michael (Mary) Hradowy and cherished Papa to Hailey Dugal (Jesse), the late Aryanna Swaddling (2013), Alexander, William Hradowy, and great-grandson Kai Oliver. He will be sadly missed by his family in Manitoba and by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Peter was a hardworking man who had an outstanding career in the automotive industry. Peter retired in 2011 as Vice President of Sales, Engineering, and Program Management for Pierburg. During Peter's career, he made many lifelong friends whom he continued to meet monthly for lunch and camaraderie.
Peter always found passion in volunteering and community service. He held various positions, including Zone Township councillor for three terms, representative of Lower Thames Conservation Authority, and Chair of Bothwell Zone Euphemia Fire Board. For several years he was the President of the Bothwell Optimist Club and held the position of Lt. Governor Optimist International Zone 8. Peter volunteered for many sports organizations, including Bothwell Minor Hockey, Bothwell Minor Baseball, Riverside Minor Hockey, Tecumseh Minor Hockey, Sun County Minor Hockey, Windsor Minor Hockey and scouted for the Chatham Maroons. He was also an avid supporter of his children's ventures in sports.
In retirement, you could find Peter doing things he loved the most, including talking with his friends on Kenney Court, fishing, shooting, playing golf, boating and riding his Harley. He was an avid sports fan cheering on his favourite teams, the Montreal Canadiens, Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers.
Peter was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for over 30 years and continually supported our veterans, service personnel, and first responders.
Above all, nothing was more profound than Peter's love for his family and would do anything for them. He will be deeply missed.
