Obituary of Dmytro Kosyk

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dmytro Kosyk on March 2, 2023. Loving husband to Nina Kosyk (nee Shugalo), devoted father to Peter (Katherine), Sonya (late Michael McMullin), Bill (Catherine) and Dido to Natasha, Larissa (Eric), Ben and Matthew. In the past year he also became great grandfather to Nolan. Uncle to Michael (Roma) and late Mary. Predeceased by his parents Onyfry and Eudokia, his brother Mike, sister in law Anna, and his dear wife Nina.

Born in Nasvyska, Ukraine he immigrated to Canada in 1938. He worked the family farm and was an electrician at Allied Chemical for 51 years. He was a hardworking, family man who was happiest when he was working around his property or helping others. Perhaps he was even happier sitting at a full dining room table with friends and family. After the prayer he would toast everyone with the hopes that we all get together soon. He eagerly invited guests into his home with the expression “make yourself homely”.

As a faithful member of St. Vladimir Orthodox Cathedral for 70 years, he gladly devoted his time and resources to the parish with countless hours spent singing in the choir, helping with Church maintenance, participating as a member of The Ukrainian Self Reliance League and as a Member of the Parish Executive.

The family is grateful to the Nurses and Doctors at Windsor Regional Hospital Ouellette Campus and the PSWs who provided invaluable support over the past few years.
