Obituary of Dario Nardone

NARDONE, Dario Giacomo November 5, 1927 - February 3, 2023 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Dario Giacomo Nardone. Dario will be dearly missed by his step-daughters Fran Catenacci (Ralph) and Lucy Fazio (late Paul). His step-grandchildren Teena Fazio, Mark Fazio (Ann), Christina Catenacci, Luke Fazio (Reena), and Daniel Catenacci (Meghan) will dearly remember him as loving and generous. He always derived great joy from his step-great-grandchildren Julien and Simon Fazio; Sofia, Aurora and Emilia Catenacci; Niam and Kian Fazio. He will be fondly missed by his several nieces and nephews in Italy, Canada and USA. Dario was predeceased by his loving wife Livia to whom he was married for eighteen years. He was also predeceased by members of his family in Italy: his parents Giovanni and Erminia Nardone, brothers Alberigo and Armando, and sisters Rosina Antonucci and Lidia Fazio. Dario’s story is similar to that of many other immigrants who arrived in Canada in the fifties in search of a better life. He worked hard for many years in the construction industry and continued to stay active after retirement. Anyone who met him was touched by his gregariousness and generosity. His adopted family consisted of his many friends from the Ciociaro Club where he held the record for being the eldest boccia player. His vegetable gardening was legendary and proved to be a great pastime for him to the day he left his house at the age of ninety-three. He grew enough for his friends and several neighbours. It gave him great pleasure to give most of it away to others. The family wishes to express our deepest thanks to Dario’s family doctor, Dr. Henry Fortuna, whose constant and unfailing care and support helped him immensely during the last difficult years of his life. Many thanks also to Dr. T. Deklaj and Dr. A. Chaker. Very special thanks to the entire staff of Dolce Vita Retirement Living especially the management, Franca and Tony Conciatori who went over and beyond their professional duties to make Dario’s last years as comfortable and happy as possible. Visitation will be at Windsor Chapel 3048 Dougall Avenue, Windsor ON on Friday, February 10, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with Parish Prayers at 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Angela Merici Church, 980 Louis Avenue, Windsor ON. on Saturday, February 11 at 11:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at St Alphonsus Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honour his memory are asked to make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences and cherished memories may be shared at www.windsorchapel.com
