Obituary of Jo-Ann Jamail
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jo-Ann Frances Jamail on January 28th, 2023. She passed away peacefully, leaving behind her soulmate of 62 years Charles. Jo-Ann was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Born in Windsor, Ontario Jo-Ann’s early years were spent working weekends alongside her father at Nassr Fruit Company. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy and Assumption University, graduating as a medical laboratory technologist. In 1961, she married Charles Jamail after having met for the first time when he was 11 and she was 9. Jo-Ann shifted her focus to raising her four beautiful daughters. She lived a full life with Charles; she enjoyed traveling and cooking up a storm for her family gatherings. Most of all, she loved her family and friends and instilled strong values in her children and grandchildren. Jo-Ann will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. She was the backbone of our family. Her ability to listen and offer an objective opinion was a gift we tapped into many times throughout our lives and will deeply miss. She faced adversity with a strong faith, setting an example for us to believe that we could overcome anything ourselves.
Jo-Ann is the beloved mother of Suzy, Cindy, Jackie (Sam) Lopez and Judy (Dr. David) Mady. Proud grandmother of Natalie (Thor) Richardson, Charlie, Nicholas, Madison, Carly (Dean) Mastronardi, Alexis and Reed. Jo-Ann is also the great-grandmother to Leo & Hartley. She is survived by her sister Cathy (Dr. George) Shunock and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Rose Nassr, and siblings Donald, John and Sandy. A special thank you to Juanelle, Tammy, Shannon and Chelsea - the caregivers who took care of Jo-Ann with such compassion.
A private funeral mass has taken place at Windsor Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Hospice of Windsor in memory of Jo-Ann.
