Obituary of Lain Hua "Theresa" Yoong

Lain Hua (Theresa) Yoong (nee Soong) passed away peacefully on December 21, 2022 at the age of 86, surrounded by her loving family. Loving wife and best friend of Phoo Pin (Phillip) for 59 years. Beloved mother of Priscilla (Jason), Kevin, Judy (Alex), and Gina (Ross). Reunited in heaven with parents Ting Ping Soong and Geok Choo Ong. Cherished Ahma to Halen, Shaelyn (Dan), Keagan, Quintan, Justin (Lauren), Katelin, Alyssa, Antonio, and great-grandmother to Calvin. Beloved sister to: Lay Hwa 2011 (Jeffery, 2019), Maureen (Peng Hee), Christine 1985 (Luke), Robert (Shun Shun, 2020), Lynda (Steven), Helen (Steven), David (Lorinda), Fiona (Richard), and Bee (Thomas). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and is cherished by many in-laws and friends.

Lain retired after 25 years as a personal support worker in long-term care. She was able to enjoy many years of retirement with her grandchildren. She loved taking care of her family, hosting parties, celebrating special occasions with all her family, and always cooking delicious meals. Lain loved to travel and was able to travel to over 20 countries with her husband. Lain's faith played an important role in her life, always dedicating her Sundays to attending church. She never hesitated to give to charity and those less fortunate. Throughout her life, she found joy in plants and gardening and loved tending to her two gardens at home.

A visitation will take place at Our Lady of Atonement Parish (2940 Forest Glade Dr, Windsor, ON N8R 1L5) on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 9-10am followed by a funeral mass. Interment will follow at Heavenly Rest.
