Obituary of Jela "Helen" Beketic

BEKETIC, Jela "Helen" (nee Lucic) It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Jela, a beloved Wife, Mother, Baka and Sister, on December 14, 2022 surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 59. Beloved wife to Mijo "Mike" Beketic with whom she celebrated 37 years of blessed marriage. Loving and devoted mother to Nicky Beketic and wife Michelle, Melissa Beketic, Kristina Beketic and husband James Powell. Cherished grandmother "Baka" to Sophia and Stella Beketic. Jela is predeceased by her parents Niko and Ana Lucic. Dear sister to late Ivo Lucic and surviving wife Mara, Cvjetko Lucic and wife Ana, Pero Lucic, Ana Josic and husband Mijo, Vinko Lucic, and Janja Lucic. Adored aunt to Suzana, Niko, Sladana, Danijela, Martina, Ann-Marie, Suzie, Vera, Petar and Michael. Also survived by many relatives and friendsin Croatia and Bosnia. Helen was an employee of WRH, Ouellette Campus with 21 years of dedicated service and a faithful member of St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church. Jela will be remembered for being a woman who took great pride in ensuring that her family was always first and foremost. She always displayed a generous heart to family and friends. She will be known for her outgoing and fun loving spirit, playing cards, dancing the "Kolo", baking, gardening, travelling and home decorating. Visitation at Windsor Chapel (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. (519)253-7234 on Sunday, December 18, 2022 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm. Funeral Service on Monday, December 19, 2022 at 9:15am from the funeral home then to St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church for Funeral Mass at 10:00am. Interment to follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens. As an expression of sympathy and to honour Jela, donations may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Church Building Fund.
