Our condolences to Breada and family. I was quiet surprised to hear of Gus's illness and that he was leaving you. He was such an easy going and witty person. I loved to share time with his presence. Time will strengthen you and our family. There is lot of love surrounding you to mend your heart. Be strong, one day at a time.

Helen and family. It was my luck to be posted to Essex O.P.P. in December, 1969, and be assigned to Gus MacKinnon as my Coach Officer. Thanks to Gus’s patience and teaching I went on to have a very interesting and varied career with the O.P.P. Fast forward to the summer of 2019 and Gus and Helen took the time to meet my wife Carolyn and I for lunch in the Bayfield area, and invited us back to their cottage for a longer visit. I wanted to repeat the getting together the next year and COVID changed everything. It did not change my fond memories of spending shifts with my “Coach” and looking forward to meeting again. I am so sorry in your loss and truly, Gus was indeed one of the great ones. May your memories of him give you comfort and peace. Thinking of you, Bill and Carolyn Pearson

Gus tought me that it is a good idea to stay in shape by skipping with a rope for hours on end, and to respect your neighbour's garden. Sincere and with a great sense of humour, he was a mentor to me at an early age. Mrs. MacKinnon, my good old friend Scott, and sisters Stacey and Shelly, my heart goes out to you. Love always, Paul Dyrda.

I thought it only proper to put a few words down on behalf of my parents (Gus’ father and mother-in-law) Evelyn and Alfred Hillman who are both in their 90’s but unfortunately with dementia. Gus would often join Brenda on their many visits to the nursing home. My parents treated Gus like their own son due to his devoted love for them. Gus always showed his concern for my parents for this was his nature.
On behalf of us Hillman siblings, we are so great full for your thoughtfulness towards our parents for the past 50 years. They loved you sooooo much!!!
Love Evelyn and Alf Hillman

The best brother-in-law anyone could have. Always smiling always laughing at jokes so hard he would have to take his glasses off…sometimes before the joke was finished being told. A true family man.. his family was his life. Will always remember the fun times at Marco Island.
You’ve been part of my life since I was 9 years old (51 years). Wendy, myself, Wes and Emily and Justin will never forget you !!
I can close my eyes now and hear you say “why I oughta!
Love you Gus !

I have only met Gus a few times and each time he was always smiling & joking around. What a great sense of humor he had. I feel like I've known him longer as his daughter & good friend of mine Shelley, has often spoken highly about him. He was quite the handyman and always there to lend a helping hand.
My deepest condolences to you all, from my family to yours. He will be deeply missed ❤️
