Obituary of Stjepan "Steve" Laslavic

LASLAVIC, Stjepan “Steve” It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Husband, Father "Tata" and Grandfather "Didi" into the Lord’s everlasting arms on December 10th, 2022. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 77. Beloved Husband and true love to Katica "Kathy" (nee Novosel) with whom he celebrated 53 years of marriage. Loving and proud Father to his daughters Lydia and husband Steve Minnick and Nancy and husband Dave Flajnik. Cherished Didi to Steven Minnick. Steve was born in Laslavici, Bosiljevo, Croatia to the late Alojz (1949) and Ana (Babi) Laslavic (1996). Predeceased by his brother Mate Laslavic (1989) and his great uncles Alojz (Jelka) Brnardic, Steve (Barbara) Brnardic, Mate Brnardic and his surviving wife Anka. Dear nephew to Teta (Aunt) Marica Pecar and the late Tece (Uncle) Josip Pecar, who were there for Steve and supported him when he immigrated to Canada in 1968. Also survived by cousin Joe (late Katie) Brnardic, the late Steve (Jayne) Brnardic, and Mira Pio (Mike). Dear Brother in-law to John Novosel (Mary) and many close relatives in Croatia, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, Godchildren in Canada, Croatia, and Germany. Steve was a proud retiree of General Motors Transmission Plant with over 30 years of service. He was a 25 year member of the Knights of Columbus and a proud member of St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church. Our Dad was best known as a man of strength with a big and kind heart that would do anything for his Family and friends. He was extremely protective of his Loved ones and always willing to help us even when he did not feel his best. Steve had a love for dancing, and playing cards but especially enjoyed time with his wife, daughters, son in-laws and grandson. He will be deeply missed. Our many thanks to his dear neighbours, the Simonetti Family and their daughters, Maria and Clara, and Nest and Clara. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Tremblay, Dr. Krahn, Lauryn, Alex and the staff at Windsor Regional Hospital, Metropolitan Campus for their exceptional care, compassion and kindness given to Steve and our family.
