Obituary of Karen Schofield
Schofield (nee Carter), Karen Lynn
July 23, 1943 – November 28, 2022
We are saddened to announce the peaceful passing of Karen L. Schofield with her loving family by her side. Cherished wife of Richard (Dick) for 57 years. Beloved, inspirational, and remarkable Mom of Kari Lynn (Frank Malone) and Toby Jean (Harry).
Predeceased by her parents Raymond and Mary Carter, her brother David. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews.
Throughout her life, Karen’s quest for learning, generous nature, willing to take up the good fight to make our community and world a better place. Karen used her words and followed up with action to make a difference. Her integrity fostered broad interests and attracted many friends. Karen instilled those same values not only in her daughters but many people who came into her life.
Karen cared about people and community service having been appointed to various Boards and Committees. She chaired, coordinated, and presented numerous public forums and seminars to promote community awareness and involvement. Her expertise helped to shape the City of Windsor Riverfront Lands Advisory Committee, Downtown Windsor Development Advisory Committee, and the Windsor Planning Advisory Committee. Karen was federally appointed as a Chairperson of the Windsor Housing Authority and was proud to be part of the building of non-profit housing through the Glengarry Non-Profit Housing Corporation.
She will be fondly remembered for her laughter, eclectic music, books, Painted Ponies, passion for heritage and history, gardening, civic stewardship, her love of her furry friends, cardinals and butterflies.
We would like to especially thank Dr. B Miller, Beth, and Jocelyne for their years of care, Maggie and Nancy, special thanks to Paramed PSW’s, our friends and neighbours for their kindness. Sincere gratitude to Rose and Joe at Met Campus 5 North.
Karen was a brain aneurysm survivor of 9 years continuing to live at home with the exceptional care and protection of Dickie. Her will to live, her love of her husband and family are inspirations.

Memorial Visitation at Windsor Chapel, Central Chapel, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. East, 519-253-7234 on Thursday, December 1st from 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm.
