Obituary of Nastasia Punga
PUNGA, Nastasia (nee Ursu) "Ginger"
On September 23, 2022, it is with deepest sorrow that the family announce the passing of our beloved mother from her earthly life just two months short of 100 years.
Ginger, as she was commonly known, was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, cousin, aunt and friend. She was pre-deceased by parents: Vasile (1987) Licheria (1934); five brothers: Pete (1989), Paul (1978), Don (1993), Roy (2008) and Elie (2010); two sisters: Irene (2014) and Ilene (2017); her beloved daughter Karen (2001); her husband of 55 years, George (2004), and special granddaughter Erin (2019). Ginger is survived by son Mark, and daughter-in-law Wanda, granddaughter Nikki (Dave) and great granddaughter Rebecca; son Preston, and daughter-in-law Christine, grandson Michael (Kathryn), grandson Nicholas and granddaughter Kathryn; granddaughter Laura (Will) and great grandson Jonas; grandson Reuben; and their father Mark (Emma). She is also survived by her dearest sister, Sue; sister-in-law Shirley; sister-in-law Vera, and sister-in-law Mary; many nieces and nephews and all of their families.
Our mother, Ginger, was a skilled seamstress, homemaker, parent teacher volunteer, business partner, church volunteer and concerned citizen. She loved gardening and floral arranging. On a Saturday she enjoyed watching Hockey Night in Canada with the Don Cherry commentaries. Also, she loved to watch the Olympic sports from far off locations. For refreshment, a hot cup of tea would be fairly close at hand. Also close was her telephone with which she chatted with anyone who took time to dial her number and offer bits of news and updates.
Her greatest love has been family, and although spread far afield, there has always been constant communication amongst all of them.
Our sincere thanks to the caring staff and nurses at Sunrise Assisted Living, who have been wonderful at assisting her to live her life safely and independently.
