Obituary of Agostino 'Gus' Tridico

Passed away unexpectedly on February 1, 2021 at the age of 83. Cherished husband and best friend of Adele (nee Lunelli) for 56 years. Loving father of Franco, Grace (Wayne) Starks, and Silvana (late John) Durocher. Proud and doting Nonno of Adalena (Nicole), Austin, Ariana, Alyssa, Maryssa, Lauren, and Sophie. Born to Francesco Tridico and Grazia (Campana) in Pietrapaola, Calabria, Italy, Agostino is survived by his siblings Giuseppe (Rosina), Immacolata Albidone (late Domenico), Rosaria Garofolo (late Giuseppe), Orlando (Immacolata), Arturo (Enza), and predeceased by his sisters Annunziata Vitale and Duilia De Luca (late Enzo) Gus will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, and friends. Gus could do anything he set his mind to. He loved working with his hands, building and fixing, working on various projects around his home and his many properties. He was a traditional man who instilled in his children the value and importance of hard work, determination and perseverance. Upon retirement, Gus became an avid gardener. In the summer months, he could often be found in his backyard with a basil leaf tucked behind one ear. Gus also loved classic cars and owned a late model Mercedes he would often drive around town. He enjoyed travelling to warmer climates; Florida beaches in the winter, and Italy in the fall to see his mother. He proudly served his country in the Italian military before moving to Canada, where he began work as a labourer but had the tenacity to become a masterfully-skilled plasterer. He was also employed at Chrysler Canada. But the true light of Gus' life was his family, and he cherished nothing more than enjoying a glass of homemade wine with his family. His resilience, reliability, work ethic and wicked sense of humour were admired by all who knew him and we will miss the comedic stories he told more than we can describe. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the London Health and Science-University Hospital. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and limitations on public gatherings, a private family service will be held on Monday February 8, 2021 and entombment will follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to WINDSOR CHAPEL (Banwell Chapel) 11677 Tecumseh. Rd. E. 519-253-7234. Online condolences and cherished memories may be shared at www.windsorchapel.com
