Obituary of Roland Andrew Janisse

JANISSE- Roland 

With family by his side Roland passed away peacefully in his 100th year Sunday, September 4th 2022.
Predeceased by his wife Alice and 9 of his 12 siblings.  Survived by his brothers Jim (Leona d.) and Clarence (Lois) and his sister Marlene, Sister Marcelline (Sisters of St. Joseph).  
Dear Dad to Claudette Spencer (Mark Belanger), Louise Hayes (Bob), Charmaine Ferrigan (Mike d.), Roland (Patricia), Fred (Cheryl) and Dan (Jackie) 
Lovingly called Pip, he will be missed by his 11 grandchildren Christine, Ryan, Colin, Elaine, Trevor, Amy, Lori, Andrew, Matthew, Derrick and Karly and 11 great grandchildren.  

Everyone he knew will miss his quick smile, playfulness and joyful laugh.   As children, we ate from the garden he lovingly tended.  He was a patient, kind and loving man. Nothing made him happier than to be surrounded by his loud and raucous family or a competitive game of euchre or cribbage.  He loved to follow his Detroit Tigers and played golf into his 90”s. 

Joining the war effort in ’42 Roland served in the Air Force for 4 years.   Afterwards, working for Windsor Transit driving city bus, he met his future wife.  His most gratifying position was the 25 years he spent as an insurance agent with London Life, helping others in their time of need.  

He was an active member in his parish and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus where he rose to 3rd Degree rank. 

Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel (Central Chapel), 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. (519)253-7234 on Friday September 16, 2022 from 2-5 and 7-9 pm. Prayers Friday at 4:30pm.  Relatives and friends will also be received for visitation on Saturday September 17, 2022 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 4401 Mount Royal Dr. from 10 am until funeral mass at 11 am.   Internment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
